General Motors (GM) is recalling more than 690,000 model year 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks.

What's the problem?

The affected vehicles may experience a temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist, especially during low-speed turning maneuvers.

If EPS assist is lost and then returns, the driver might lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

What happens next?

GM will notify owners of the recalled Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra vehicles. Local dealers will then update the EPS module software at no cost to vehicle owners.
