About 132,900 Chevrolets and Cadillacs are part of General Motor's (GM) latest recall.

GM is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Cadillac XTS and Chevrolet Impala vehicles because a software defect doesn't allow the electronic parking brake to disengage properly, causing the brake pad to stay partially engaged.

If this happens, the driver may experience poor acceleration, undesired deceleration and premature wear and tear. Excessive heat could also cause a fire.

GM will notify owners of the problem and dealers will update the electronic parking brake software, free of charge. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at (800) 458-8006 for more information. GM's number for this recall is 14471.
