General Motors (GM) is recalling more than 14,800 model year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks.

The front brake calipers on the affected vehicles may leak brake fluid due to air pockets caused by an imperfection in the metal caliper body.

A brake fluid leak can increase the vehicle's required stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks impacted by this recall were all manufactured from January 6, 2014 through December 24, 2014.

GM will notify owners of the recalled trucks, and local GM dealers will inspect and replace the front-brake calipers, if necessary, free of charge.

This recall is expected to begin on July 10, 2015. Owners with further questions may contact GM customer service toll-free at 1-800-222-1020 (for Chevrolet owners) or 1-800-462-8782 (for GMC owners).

GM's reference number for this recall is 14888.
