General Motors is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Chevrolet Spark vehicles because of a defective hood latch.

In the affected vehicles the secondary hood latch may corrode prematurely. If both the primary and secondary latch are not working properly, the hood could unexpectedly open while the car is being driven.

About 89,300 cars are impacted by the recall.

GM will notify owners of the problem, but has not yet provided a notification schedule. Dealers will replace the striker and latch with a new part with superior corrosion protection, free of charge.

Owners with questions or concerns can contact Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14456.
