GM Recalls Saab 9-3 Convertibles with Seatbelt Defect

July 9, 2014

General Motors (GM) is recalling roughly 28,789 model year 2004-2011 Saab 9-3 convertible vehicles manufactured from July 30, 2003 to February 15, 2011.

In the affected Saab 9-3 vehicles, the driver's side front seatbelt retractor may break, causing the seatbelt webbing not to retract. In the event of a crash, a seat belt that has not retracted may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing their risk of injury.

Owners of the recalled Saab 9-3 convertibles will be notified by GM, and dealers will replace the driver's seatbelt retractor. All service and repairs related to this recall will be performed free of charge.

For additional information on this recall, contact Saab Customer Service toll-free at (800) 955-9007. GM's reference number for this recall is 14222.

Note: Special Coverage 10086 will replace the passenger side seatbelt retractor if it fails, free of charge, for the life of the vehicle.
