H-E-B announced that it has issued a recall for both bulk and packaged raw shelled pistachios. The product is being removed because there is potential it could be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

The recall affects raw shelled pistachios found in prepackaged plastic containers with either labels reading Shelled Pistachios or Central Market Shelled Pistachios, as well as pistachios found in the bulk section with SunRidge Farms labels reading Women's Vitality Mix, Pistachio Nuts, or Dark Chocolate Pistachios.

For full details on all affected raw shelled pistachio products sold in H-E-B and Central Market Texas stores, click here.

The issue was discovered through routine sampling conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and all products have subsequently been removed from store shelves. There have been no reports of illness related to this recall, to date.

Customers who purchased any of the affected pistachio products should return them to the store for a full refund. Consumers with any additional questions or concerns about this recall can contact H-E-B Customer Service at (855) 432-4438.
