Hearth and Home Technologies is recalling approximately 650 Quadra Fire wood-burning stoves due to an injury hazard.

When the stove's top load lid is in use, its handle may become disengaged from the locked position, allowing the lid to slam shut unexpectedly on a consumer's fingers.

The affected stoves include model Explorer III with serial number range 00706300001-00706300941. These numbers, together with the model name, can be found on the rating plate located on the back of the stove. The stove is made of cast iron, features a top-loading lid, and is available in black, mahogany, dark blue, and frost colors.

The products were sold at Fireside Hearth and Home stores and Hearth and Home Technologies independent dealers from February 2015 through August 2016 for approximately $3,000.

The manufacturer has received five incident reports to date, including two reports of minor injuries received when consumers' fingers were caught under the lid.

Consumers should stop using the affected stove immediately and should contact Hearth and Home Technologies for a free repair kit.

The manufacturer's dealers are notifying all known purchasers of the stoves.

For more information, consumers may contact Hearth and Home Technologies at (800) 883-6690.
