Hitachi Koki Recalls 127,000 Grass Trimmers Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
Hitachi Koki has announced a recall of approximately 127,000 grass trimmers that can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to the user.
This recall involves twelve models of Hitachi Koki and Tanaka-brand hand-held grass trimmers. The gasoline-powered trimmers have either a green engine cover (Hitachi) or orange (Tanaka). The Hitachi or Tanaka logo is printed on the circular plate on the starter pull housing. Model and serial numbers are also located on the circular plate. Trimmers included in the recall have one of the following model numbers and have a serial number that begins with J, P or a number:
Hitachi: CG22EAB(SLP), CG22EAD(SLP), CG22EAS(SLP), CG24EASP(SL), or CG27EASP(SL)
Tanaka: TCG22EAB(SLP), TCG22EAD(SLP), TCG22EAS(SLP), TCG24EASP(SL), TCG27EASP(SL), TCG40EAS(LP), or TCG40EAS(P)
The grass trimmers affected by this recall were sold at Lowe's, Sears and other home improvement and building supply stores nationwide and online from March 2010 through November 2013.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled grass trimmers and contact Hitachi Koki U.S. A. for instructions on how to return the product for a free repair.
