Honda has issued a safety recall affecting certain model year 2015-2016 Honda CR-V vehicles that recently received a replacement engine. The replacement engine installed in the impacted vehicles may have been built with the wrong pistons, potentially affecting the engine's performance.

Reduced engine performance may result in the vehicle stalling—increasing the risk of a crash.

Honda will notify owners of the recalled vehicles beginning on June 5, 2017. Dealers will then inspect the engines and replace the incorrect components, as necessary. These repairs will be conducted free of charge to vehicle owners.

For additional information, contact Honda customer service at (888) 234-2138.

Honda's reference number for this recall is KF6.
