Hyundai Issues Recall for Santa Fe Vehicles Susceptible to Sudden Engine Stall
The crankshaft assemblies on these vehicles may have been produced with surface irregularities
Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain model year 2017 Santa Fe vehicles equipped with 3.3L engines.
What's the problem?
The crankshaft assemblies on the affected vehicles may have been produced with surface irregularities in the crankshaft pin, causing engine bearing wear.
The engine bearing wear may cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Approximately 420 Santa Fe vehicles are included in this recall.
What happens next?
Hyundai will notify all owners of the recalled vehicles beginning in mid-October 2017. Hyundai dealers will then inspect and replace the vehicle's engine, if necessary, free of charge.
