Hyundai Motor America is recalling more than 443,000 model year 2011-2014 Sonata and 2011-2015 Sonata Hybrid vehicles.

All of the affected vehicles were previously repaired under recall campaign 17V-152.

What's the problem?

The seat belt linkages for both front seat belts on these vehicles may detach from the seat belt anchor pretensioners.

If the seat belt linkage detaches from the seat belt anchorage, the occupant would not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

What happens next?

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be notified by Hyundai. Dealers will then verify the connection between the seat belt linkage and the pretensioner and install a warning label to prevent future seat belt linkage detachment.

Vehicle owners will additional questions or concerns about this recall can contact Hyundai customer service at (855) 371-9460—reference recall number 169.
