Hyundai Motor America is recalling 62,811 model year 2015-2016 Hyundai Sonata and Sonata Hybrid vehicles that are equipped with the panoramic sunroof option.

Due to a bonding issue with the sunroof wind deflector, the sunroof panel on the affected vehicles may detach while driving.

If the sunroof detaches from the vehicle it could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Hyundai Sonata vehicles included in this recall were manufactured from May 28, 2014 to March 18, 2016—while the affected Sonata Hybrid vehicles were manufactured between December 8, 2014 and August 18, 2015.

Hyundai will notify owners of the recalled Sonata vehicles, and local Hyundai dealers will repair the wind deflector anchor plate, free of charge.

This recall is expected to begin on December 2, 2016.
