Fiat Chrysler is recalling a Jeep model due to a safety hazard.

The auto manufacturer is issuing the recall for certain 2014 Jeep Cherokees, manufactured Jan. 4, 2013, to July 11, 2014. In affected vehicles, use of the front windshield wipers on dry glass may cause damage to the body control module (BCM). BCM damage may result in the failure of the windshield wipers, impairing the driver's vision and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Fiat Chrysler is recalling almost 160,000 vehicles in regards to this defect.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a ground strap to protect the BCM from damage, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at (800) 853-1403.
