An error on the assembly line may increase the risk of fire in Jeep vehicles.

Chrysler is issuing a recall for certain model year 2015 Jeep Compass and Patriot vehicles. During assembly, the power steering hose retention clamp may have been installed at an incorrect location, resulting in the detachment of the low pressure return hose.

If the power steering fluid return hose detaches, it could leak fluid and increase the risk of a fire.

The company believes that more than 60,000 vehicles are impacted by this defect.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the return power steering hose clamp, repositioning the clamp as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact Chrysler customer service at (800) 853-1403.
