Kia Motors America has announced the recall of more than 27,000 model year 2017 Kia Niro vehicles.

What's the problem?

The Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA) inner oil seal on the affected vehicles may leak, allowing oil to accumulate in the cap area, possibly resulting in an electrical short.

An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.

What happens next?

Kia will notify owners of the recalled Niro vehicles beginning in mid-June 2018. Local Kia dealers will then inspect the HCA caps for leaked oil and replace the HCA assembly if needed, or replace the HCA cap with additional sealant. These repairs will be performed free of charge to vehicle owners.
