Defective control wands are affecting about 4,000 recalled La-Z-Boy recliners.

The company issued the recall after three reports that control wands on floor models of the recliners became warm, increasing the risk that they could overheat.

The wands are sold with Silver Luxury Lift chairs to control the position of the recliner's back and footrest. The words 'La-Z-Boy,' 'REV: 0' and S/N number 37205143800005310 are printed on a label on the back of the wand. The Silver Luxury Lift model chairs come in a variety of sizes, colors and fabrics including leather.

The chairs, along with the wands, were sold at La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries and independent furniture stores nationwide from August 2014 through November 2014 for between $900 and $1700.

Owners of the chairs should unplug it from the wall outlet and contact a local dealer to schedule a time for a service technician to install a free replacement control wand.
