Laceration and Burn Hazards Prompt Recall of Light Fixtures by Design Solutions and Home Depot

Design Solutions International is recalling 64,200 light fixtures as a result of laceration and burn hazards.

The light shades may detach and fall off the fixture, posing a risk of lacerations and burns.

RECALLED PRODUCT DETAILS

The affected fixtures include Home Decorators Collection 3-Light and 4-Light Comotti Vanity Fixtures. These styles include three or four chrome-colored glass shades that have clear acrylic ball strands surrounding a halogen light. The wall plate is made from reflective stainless steel.

WHERE WERE THE PRODUCTS SOLD?

The fixtures were sold only at Home Depot stores across the U.S. and at Home Depot's official website from December 2014 until March 2017. They cost between $95 and $110.

WHAT SHOULD CONSUMERS DO?

To date, the company has gotten 108 reports of the light shades detaching and falling. These reports included one of a head laceration that also included a laceration and burn to the arm, as well as another report of a leg laceration.

Consumers are urged to contact the company immediately for free replacement shades and instructions.
