Laceration Hazard Prompts Angle Grinder Recall from Direct Distributors
The company believes that about 200 of its grinders are potentially dangerous
Direct Distributors has announced a recall for a potentially dangerous power tool.
The Garner, NC-based company is recalling its four-inch air angle grinders. The spring-loaded safety switch can fail and allow the grinder to turn on, even with the safety switch locked in place. This event would pose a laceration risk to consumers.
About 200 grinders are included in the recall. The firm has received one report of the safety spring failing, resulting in a finger laceration.
The recalled items can have a blue handle and some models have a Agri Supply store logo on the top. Model number 20687 is printed on the packaging.
Customers could purchase the grinders at Agri Supply stores in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia and online from January 2015 to April 2016 for about $40.
Owners should immediately stop using the recalled angle grinder and return it to Direct Distributors or any Agri Supply Company location for a full refund.
