Leaking Containers Prompt Injection Recall from B. Braun

B. Braun Medical has announced a recall a product due to quality concerns.

The company is recalling one lot of 5 percent Dextrose Injection USP 100/150mL container. B. Braun has identified an adverse quality trend in customer complaints reporting that some containers exhibited leakage and, in a few instances, visible particulate matter identified to be microbial growth.

Identifying information for the affected product includes lot number J5J706, catalog number S5104-5264, National Drug Code number 0264-1510-32, and expiration date 10/31/2016.

To date, all issues have been identified prior to use, so no adverse events have been reported.

The product was distributed nationwide to licensed distributors, hospitals, and pharmacies.

B. Braun is notifying its distributors and customers by certified mail and is arranging for the return of all recalled product. Distributors and customers that have the affected lot in inventory should immediately discontinue use.
