Loose Seat Brackets Prompt Recall of Toyota Tundra Trucks
This recall affects 8,769 Tundra vehicles
Toyota has issued a recall affecting 8,769 model year 2017 Toyota Tundra trucks.
What's the problem?
On the affected vehicles, one of the rear split bench seat leg brackets may not have been properly tightened to the vehicle's floor pan during manufacturing, possibly allowing the seat to move in a crash. If this occurs, the seat occupant faces an increased risk of injury.
A vehicle with an improperly tightened seat leg bracket could also fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems," 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages," and 225, "Child restraint anchorage systems."
What happens next?
Toyota will notify owners of the recalled Tundra trucks in mid-March 2018. Local Toyota dealers will then tighten the five seat leg bracket bolts, as necessary, free of charge.
