Mazda Issues Recall for Close to 20,000 B-Series Trucks Due to Air Bag Issue
During deployment of the driver's air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture
Mazda is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 B-Series trucks with a serious air bag defect.
Approximately 19,780 vehicles are affected.
What's the problem?
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture. If the inflator ruptures, metal fragments could strike vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
What happens next?
Mazda will notify owners of the recalled B-Series trucks beginning in mid-January 2018. Dealers will then replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternate inflator at no cost to owners.

This recall supersedes recall number 16V-048. Vehicles that received a replacement air bag inflator under the previous recall campaign need to return to a dealer to have an alternate inflator installed.
