MDS Foods has announced that it is expanding a previous recall after learning that Deutsch Kase Haus supplied them with cheeses that have been found to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

MDS Foods has also recalled potentially affected products that were packaged on the same production lines in its Tullahoma, Tennessee facility as the affected product.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Customers who have purchased any of the cheese products containing the affected sell-by dates or any unreadable date code are urged not to consume it and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Consumers with any additional questions or concerns may contact MDS Foods Customer Service at (330) 879-9780.
