Mercedes-Benz is recalling about 4,900 of its diesel-powered vehicles because they could leak oil.

In the affected vehicles, oil may leak from the area near the chain tensioner gasket. Oil that drips onto a hot engine surface could cause a fire and leaked oil on the road could pose a hazard for other drivers.

The affected models include:

  • 2014-2015 E250 BlueTec
  • 2014-2015 E250 BlueTec 4Matic
  • 2014-2015 GLK250 4Matic BlueTec
  • 2015 Sprinter 2500
  • 2015 Sprinter 3500
  • 2015 ML250 4Matic BlueTec

Mercedes will notify owners affected by the recall, and dealers will replace the chain tensioner gasket, free of charge.

For more information, owners can contact Mercedes customer service at 1-800-367-6372. Mercedes' number for this recall is 2014120002.
