Forest River has announced the recall of certain model year 2016-2017 Surveyor recreational trailers. The affected trailers, model SVT226RLDS, have a federal placard that incorrectly classifies the vehicle as a school bus. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

If the vehicle is misclassified on the label, it could potentially be overloaded by the user, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recalled trailers were manufactured between October 9, 2015 and June 9, 2016.

Forest River will notify owners of the recalled Surveyor recreational trailers, and local dealers will replace the incorrect placard with the correct one, free of charge. The owner notification schedule for this recall is expected to begin by mid-September 2016.

For further information on this recall, owners can contact Forest River toll-free at (800) 348-7440, reference number 37-07142016-0224.
