Missing Chemical Enhancer Triggers Airbag Recall from Key Safety Systems

Key Safety Systems (KSS) is issuing a recall for potentially faulty airbags.

The company is recalling certain front driver-side airbags, model ADI Dual. These airbags may be missing a chemical enhancer required for the second stage deployment, resulting in this step deploying improperly in certain types crashes.

An airbag that inflates improperly increases the risk of injury to the driver and passenger.

The manufacturer believes that about 300 airbags are potentially affected.

KSS will notify the vehicle manufacturers that purchased the affected air bags, and those manufacturers will notify owners and their dealers will replace the air bag module, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.
