Missing Label Information Prompts Margarine Recall from Ventura Foods

A manufacturing error has led to a margarine recall from Ventura Foods.

The company is recalling its Land O Lakes, Fresh Buttery Taste, 48 Percent Vegetable Oil Spread. Certain packages of the product were distributed without label information, meaning that the cups failed to disclose the margarine contained the allergens milk and soy.

The recall applies to five gram plastic cups of the margarine spread. The affected product bears production code J28115 and lot number 150528116.

The company is including more than 900 cases in connection with this manufacturing error.

The recalled product comes from one distribution center in Tennessee. The items were sent to other distribution centers in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Louisiana.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers this action to be a Class II recall, meaning that exposure to this product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The risk of serious health issues is small.
