A defective fuel system has compelled a recall from Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. (MFTA).

The truck manufacturer is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 FEC52, FEC72, FEC92, and FGB72 vehicles. The affected models have a fuel return hose that may deteriorate due to being exposed to chemicals or lubricants, causing the hose to swell and detach.

If the fuel hose detaches, a fuel leak may result, increasing the risk of a fire.

MFTA is including nearly 9,500 trucks in this recall.

The manufacturer will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel return hose, replacing it with an improved hose as necessary, free of charge. The company has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Owners with questions about this recall can call MFTA customer service at (877) 711-0707.
