Mitsubishi Motors North America has issued a recall affecting approximately 194,616 model year 2007-2013 Mitsubishi Outlander and 2011-2015 Outlander Sport vehicles.

Water may enter between the hood and windshield. In the recalled Outlander vehicles, this could cause the front wiper link ball joint to corrode, possibly resulting in the wiper link separating and the wipers becoming inoperative. In the affected Outlander Sport vehicles, the water could leak into the wiper motor breathing hole, which could cause internal corrosion of the windshield wiper motor and the possible failure of the motor.

Either scenario could lead to the loss of wiper function—reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

Mitsubishi will notify owners of the recalled vehicles, and dealers will make the necessary repairs, free of charge. Mitsubishi has not yet provided a notification schedule for this recall.
