The latest recall from Mitsubishi Motors North America affects more than 141,000 model year 2009-2012 Lancer, 2008-2012 Outlander, 2010-2012 Lancer Sportback, and 2011-2012 Outlander Sport vehicles equipped with either a 4B11 or 4B12 engine.

What's the problem?

On these vehicles, the drive belt automatic tensioner flange may crack, allowing the accessory drive belt to detach.

If the drive belt detaches, the vehicle's battery will discharge and the engine will stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

What happens next?

Mitsubishi will notify owners of the recalled Lancer and Outlander Vehicles beginning in late March 2018. Mitsubishi dealers will then replace the belt tensioner with one that has an improved shape. This repair will be completed free of charge to owners.
