Mold in Energy Bars Prompts Recall from Bearded Brothers

An energy bar manufacturer has announced a recall for two products due to the presence of mold.

The announcement from Bearded Brothers applies to two flavors of its Bold Energy Bars: The Greek and Coconut Curry. The bars were distributed nationwide.

Both products are sold in cases containing 1.5 ounce bars. The Greek bears UPC 8-50430-00414-2 and expiration date 07/23/2016, while UPC 8-50430-00513-5 and expiration date 08/13/2016 appear on the Coconut Curry.

The company is recalling 150 cases of The Greek and 128 cases of Coconut Curry.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers this action to be a Class II recall, meaning that exposure to this product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The risk of serious health issues is small.
