Special Fleet Service, Inc. and Jomac Inc. are recalling certain heavy-duty Ford trucks due to an increased risk of fire.

expansion of a previous recall

This is the same recall that affected trucks from Monroe Truck Equipment earlier this week. Certain model year 2009-2013 Ford F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty chassis modified by Special Fleet and Jomac, and equipped with certain Muncie Power Products PTO Assemblies, are part of the recall. In the affected vehicles, oil may leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust.

The leaking oil may soak into the thermal blanket covering the exhaust, which when combined with heat from exhaust, may result in an increased risk of fire.

how many?

Only about 20 trucks are associated with each of the recalls.

next steps

The companies will notify owners, and dealers will install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system, free of charge. Special Fleet's recall began in June 2014. Owners may contact Special Fleet customer service 1-800-395-2152.

The Jomac recall is expected to begin this month. Jomac customer service can be reached at 1-800-755-4488.
