More than 5,600 Fiat Electric Cars Recalled for Incompatible Software
Chrysler is recalling more than 5,600 electric cars for a defect that could cause the car to stall.
If certain model year 2013-2015 Fiat EV vehicles go into limp home mode, incompatible software between Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) and Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) may cause the electric propulsion system to shut down.
An electric propulsion system shut down will cause a stall-like condition, increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners affected by the recall, and dealers will update the vehicle software to ensure compatibility between components, free of charge.
