About 1,000 IV2 JX-SKY helmets, sizes S, M, L, and XL, are being recalled by Ivolution Sports due to an issue with their accessory pieces.

These helmets may have two detachable plastic accessory pieces, a plastic mohawk, and a face mask that were attached with small screws. These pieces may alter the angle of impact and neck position in a motorcycle crash. As such, these helmets fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."

If the accessories are attached with a rigid connection such as with screws, the rider has an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The company will notify owners and provide a full refund free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin in August 2016.
