A recreational vehicle manufacturer is issuing a recall due to suspension concerns.

Newmar Corporation announced this week that it would be recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Mountain Aire, Essex, and Dutch Star motorhomes. The affected vehicles have tag axles with wheel bearings that may be adjusted too tight, resulting in their overheating during use. If the wheel bearings overheat, there is an increased risk of a wheel end fire.

Newmar is recalling 119 recreational vehicles in connection with this defect.

The axles manufactured for use in these vehicles were produced by Spartan Motors.

Newmar will notify owners, and Spartan dealers will check the wheel end bearings for appropriate end play, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on December 11, 2015.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact Newmar customer service at (800) 731-8300 and Spartan customer service at (800) 543-4277.
