Nissan Announces Recall of Versa Vehicles with Air Bags That Could Inadvertently Deploy

Nissan North America is recalling an estimated 54,751 model year 2012 Nissan Versa vehicles.
Nissan says that degradation of the side impact sensor connector pins on the affected vehicles may cause the curtain and seat-mounted air bags to deploy unexpectedly if the vehicle door is slammed.
A curtain or seat-mounted air bag that inadvertently deploys could cause injury to vehicle occupants.
Owners of the affected Versa vehicles will be notified by Nissan—though a specific notification schedule has not yet been announced. Local Nissan dealers will install a new jumper harness and replace the side impact satellite sensors free of charge.
For additional information, owners of the recalled vehicles can contact Nissan customer service at (800) 647-7261.
