More than a half a million cars are affected by recall announced by Nissan, but the company has yet to determine a remedy.

Nissan is recalling about 625,000 model year 2013-2015 Altimas because the hood could pop open due to a defective latch.

In the affected cars, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed. If the primary latch is advertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while the car is being driven.

Nissan has not determined a notification schedule or a remedy plan.
