While the majority of Takata-related recalls are for cars at least six years old, Nissan is recalling two newer model Infiniti vehicles.

Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013 Infiniti QX56 and 2014 Infiniti QX80 vehicles that were manufactured with Takata airbags.

Nearly 8 million cars have been recalled globally due to a defect that causes the airbag to rupture when it is deployed during a crash. The explosion causes metal and plastic shrapnel to the projected toward the driver's face.

About 1,850 cars are impacted by Nissan's recall.

Nissan will notify owners affected by the recall and dealers will replace the front airbag inflator, free of charge.
