Ford Motor Company has announced a recall affecting an estimated 6,582 model year 2015-2017 Mustang vehicles.

A hose on the affected vehicles may separate from the engine oil cooler tube assembly, causing an oil leak.

A sudden loss of engine oil may cause engine failure, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, an oil leak, in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a fire.

The Ford Mustangs included in this recall were all manufactured between February 24, 2015 and August 30, 2016.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine oil cooler tube assembly on the affected vehicles, free of charge.

This recall is expected to begin on December 12, 2016. For further information, owners can contact Ford customer service at (866) 436-7332.

Ford's reference number for this recall is 16S40.
