Packaging Error Prompts Lasagna Recall from Michael Angelo's

A vegetable lasagna box mistakenly contains a turkey lasagna product

May 5, 2016

Michael Angelo's Gourmet Foods has announced that it's recalling a vegetable lasagna product because the boxes may actually contain lasagnas made with turkey.

The turkey lasagnas are also made with egg, a known allergen. Since the turkey lasagnas are in the wrong packaging, an egg allergy warning isn't included on the label.

The problem was discovered after the company received multiple complaints from customers.

The recall applies to 10 ounce boxes containing plastic trays of Michael Angelo's Vegetable Lasagna. The items bear packing date 02/12/2016 and do not bear the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) mark of inspection.

About 1,600 pounds of the product were shipped to a distributor in Indiana.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Customers with questions about the recall can contact the company's consumer hotline at (877) 482-5426.
