About 5,000 new-model Toyota hybrids have been recalled for a problem affecting the passenger-side airbag.

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Prius V hybrids because the occupant classification system may not be calibrated properly. The system is responsible for sensing if a person is sitting in the passenger seat and deploying the airbag if necessary.

If the system isn't calibrated properly, it may not defect someone sitting in the seat and won't deploy the airbag during a crash.

Toyota will contact affected owners and dealers will re-calibrate the system free of charge.
