Altec Industries has initiated a recall for cranes due to concerns over stability.

The electrical equipment manufacturer is recalling certain model year 2015 Effer 440 and 470 Knuckle Boom Cranes. The affected cranes have pedestals that may crack in the welded area.

The cracks may lead to pedestal separation and the crane falling, increasing the risk of injury.

Altec believes that five cranes may be impacted by this defect.

The company will notify owners and dealers will inspect the pedestal for cracked welds and will replace the mounting bolts for the rotation bearing. The recall is expected to begin on February 26, 2016.

Owners with questions about this recall may contact Altec customer service at (800) 860-0183.
