Abbott Nutrition has announced a recall for children's product due to questions over quality.

The company is recalling its PediaSure Grow & Gain Vanilla. The item may have a different color, smell, taste, or texture inconsistent with other lots of the product.

The product is sold in 24 count cases of eight ounce metal cans. List number 55897 and lot number 57642RA00 appear on the cases and cans. This lot was distributed between October 12, 2015 and December 4, 2015.

The affected product was sent nationwide to 151 distributors, 32 medical facilities, and 25 other institutions. It was not available for purchase at the retail level. About 15,600 cases are included.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers this action to be a Class II recall, meaning that exposure to this product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The risk of serious health issues is small.

Consumers with questions about this recall can contact Abbott Nutrition at (800) 227-5767.
