An unstable swivel chair is prompting a recall from Pier 1.

The home furnishings retailer is voluntarily recalling its Katerina model outdoor patio swivel armchairs due to reports that it can tip backward while rocking and consumers can fall off, posing an injury hazard. The company has received five reports of the chair tipping over in stores with consumers in them, including one that resulted in contusions and scratches.

The recalled chair is black/brown powder-coated aluminum. The chairs measure about 29 inches wide, 32 inches deep and 38 inches high. Pier 1 Imports, Katerina and the SKU number 2899742 are printed on the chair's hangtag.

Pier 1 is recalling about 2,500 chairs in relation to this defect. They were sold at Pier 1 stores and online from December 2014 through July 2015 for between $375 and $580.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swivel armchairs and return them to any Pier 1 location for a full refund or for a store credit.

Individuals with questions about the recall should contact Pier 1 at (800) 245-4595.
