A Philadelphia-based company is recalling deli ham made for Wegman's stores after a deli clerk found plastic in the product.

E. G. Emils & Sons, Inc., is recalling about 5,900 pounds of Wegman's Food You Feel Good About Organic Ham, Wegman's Private Label with pack lot numbers 14941309, 14941310 and 14941311.

The problem was discovered by a Wegman's employee upon slicing the ham at the deli counter and was traced to a piece of plastic that broke off from an interlocker belt.

While the product wasn't sold in North Carolina, it was sold in Wegman's stores located Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The organic ham was sold between June 12 and June 25.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service hasn't received any reports of illness related to the contaminated ham.

Consumers with questions about the recall should contact E.G. Emils & Sons, Inc. at 215-763-9824.
