Playtex Expands March Recall for Electric Breast Pump Power Adapters

September 16, 2014

Playtex announced Tuesday that it is expanding a recall for certain power adapters that are used with one of its breast pump products.

The company is including another lot to its nationwide recall of certain AC/DC power adapters that are used with the Playtex Nurser Deluxe Double Electric Breast Pump because the casing can come loose and separate, increasing the risk of electric shock.

Playtex initially issued the recall in March of 2014, but after further evaluation and investigation, Playtex has added one more adapter production lot to the recall.

The affected adapters were manufactured from November 2012 through July 2013. The products can be identified by product serial number (P12315 -XXXX through P13205-XXXX). Alternatively, the product can be identified by adapter production code (1238 through 1324). The adapters were sold along with the breast pump. They were not sold separately.

The breast pump was sold at nationwide, specialty and online retailers. Playtex is notifying its retail partners to return any remaining products with affected AC/DC adapters.

Consumers who have purchased an affected product should contact Playtex for a replacement by calling 1-888-207-1429. Consumers should immediately discontinue use of the adapter if it shows signs of separating.

Adverse reactions or quality problems experienced with the use of this product may be reported to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online or by regular mail.
