Potential Airbag Flaw Prompts Recall of Chevrolet Malibu Vehicles

General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2016 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles. The fabric of the side-impact airbag cushion on the affected vehicles may tear during deployment.

If the airbag tears during deployment, the airbag may not perform as designed, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The Chevrolet Malibu vehicles included in this recall were manufactured from November 18, 2015 to June 7, 2016.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, replace the airbag module on the affected vehicles. Repairs related to this recall will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.
