Potential Engine Stall Prompts Recall of KTM Motorcycles

March 25, 2016

KTM North America has initiated a recall for motorcycles due to a safety concern.

The manufacturer is voluntarily recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Husqvarna TR650 Terra and TR650 Strada motorcycles. During operation, the engine could stall without warning when the clutch is pulled in.

This could increase the risk of a crash and possibly lead to personal or property damage.

KTM North America is still investigating the cause of the defect in collaboration with Magneti Marelli and BMW. Magneti Marelli is the supplier of the fuel management system and BMW was the owner of the Husqvarna brand when the potentially affected vehicles were manufactured.

The company believes that about 1,000 motorcycles are potentially affected.

The remedy for this recall is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact KTM customer service at (440) 985-3553.
