Subaru of America is recalling a pair of vehicle models due to concerns over engine capability.

The automaker is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 WRX and Forester 2.0XT vehicles. The turbocharger air intake duct in the recalled vehicles may crack and possibly result in an engine stall.

An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

The manufacturer believes that approximately 18,000 WRX and Forester vehicles are potentially impacted by this defect.

Subaru will notify owners of the recalled vehicles, and local dealers will inspect the turbocharger air intake duct, and replace it as necessary, free of charge, depending on the lot number found on the duct. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule for this recall.

Owners with questions about the recall can contact Subaru customer service toll-free at (800) 782-2783.
