Baxter International has announced a recall for four lots of intravenous (IV) solutions to the due to the potential for leaking containers and particulate matter.

Baxter became aware of these issues following several several customer complaints. In all cases, the problems were discovered prior to patient administration and, to date, there have been no adverse events associated with these incidents reported to Baxter.

The recall applies to two lots of sodium chloride, one lot of metronidazole, and one lot of Clinimix. For product codes, lot numbers, and expiration dates, see the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) release.

Customers were notified via letter that they should not use products from the recalled lots. Recalled products should be returned to Baxter. Unaffected products are available for replacement.

This is the second recall from Baxter this month. On January 4, the company recalled products after the discovery of insect parts in IV solution.
