Potential Presence of Glass Prompts Recall of Mandarin Oranges

Milky Way Polar Foods has issued a recall for a fruit product sold at Walgreens.

The food manufacturer's announcement applies to containers of mandarin oranges (in light syrup) that main contain pieces of glass. About 8,300 cases are included in the recall.

The recall lists three lots as potentially affected: H894K09A, 4200/01039, 4200/01039. These lots bear expiration dates 01/11/2017, 01/16/2018, and 02/01/2018, respectively. The item is packaged in eight ounce cups, and bear UPCs 100-49022-80895-6(case) and 0-49022-80895-9(individual).

Milky Way Polar distributed these products to Walgreens stores nationwide.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers this action to be a Class II recall, meaning that exposure to this product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The risk of serious health issues is small.
